Reports indicate an upcoming Alfa Romeo sedan called the Giulia will have a lusty heart, an engine with a healthy dose of Ferrari DNA.
The powerplant in question should be an up-level V6 that will serve as an option over a standard four-cylinder turbo. The likely candidate for entry-level duty is the brand’s 1.75-liter banger that currently sees duty in the 4C sports car.
The Giulia’s new six-cylinder heart is rumored to be specifically developed for Alfa Romeo. It’s also reported this powerplant will be assembled at FCA’s Termoli engine factory on Italy’s Adriatic coast.

Details about the upcoming Giulia are scarce though this midsize sedan will be rear-wheel drive, share components with the Maserati Ghibli and should feature swanky styling. It’s designed to be an antidote to German cars that are all too often “cold and clinical,” at least that’s according to Maserati honcho Harald Webster.
The new Alfa Romeo Giulia should compete with luxury stalwarts like the BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Cadillac’s new ATS.
