The return of Alfa Romeo to the U.S. has been kicking around in the media for quite some time now, and finally Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Machionne has said that the Alfa Romeo 4C is expected to reach North America before the end of 2013.

“We’re finalizing the car now, so it should be here by the end of the year,” Marchionne said. “It’s ready in the sense of all the work with architecture and types of models.”

Fiat is still finalizing plans to re-launch Alfa, which seems to the biggest hold up in the brand’s return. The car and its engines will both be built in Italy.

Fiat finalized a new deal with Mazda on Friday to build an MX-5-based Alfa Romeo roadster, which will go into production in 2015, and is part of Alfa’s plan to launch nine new models in the U.S. by 2016.

“I think it’s going to create a lot of support for Alfa coming back to the United States,” Marchionne said of the agreement. “It’s ready in the sense that a lot of work has gone on in terms of architectures and models. We need to make sure we hit the powertrains.”
