The highly anticipated relaunch of the Alfa Romeo brand in the American market could see some delays, as Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne is expected to release a new timetable on the Italian automaker’s global expansion plans on October 30th, 2012.
Originally, Alfa Romeo hoped to be reintroduced to Americans by the end of this year with a limited run of 4C coupe models. The Giulia sedan was then proposed to be part of the automaker’s lineup by 2014. It now appears that none of that is on schedule, with the 4C production model likely heading to next year’s Detroit Auto Show for a debut. Meanwhile, the timing for the Giulia is still up in the air, at least until October 30th.
Despite constant delays in Alfa Romeo’s return to the US, the future is bright with the automaker announcing a formal partnership with Mazda. The deal with the Japanese automaker could become long term with many Alfa-branded models to come.
For now we’ll keep our fingers crossed that Marchionne will bring some good – and realistic – news on October 30th.
